MSPCA Selects 2 Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Julia Lieberman and Madison Spigler!

The Maryland State Pest Control Association (MSPCA) is pleased to announce two recipients of the 2025 Fred Neil Scholarship: Madeline Spigler and Julia Lieberman. MSPCA Members, employees, and their children are eligible for this annual scholarship.  

The Fred Neil Scholarship is named for Fred Neil, the former Secretary of MSPCA, former Editor of the MSPCA Newsletter, and an industry contributor who dedicated 35 years of unrelenting energy to the Association. Previously known as The Doug Sroka Scholarship, the MSPCA Board elected to rename the scholarship in honor of Fred's hard work, multi-decade contributions, and dedication. MSPCA believes in advancing education, and we want to support the hard work of MSPCA family members or employees who are studying full-time at a college or university.

Julia Lieberman, having just completed her first year at JMU, is happy to receive this scholarship for the second time. The daughter of Brett Lieberman, owner of My Pest Pros, Julia is pursuing a degreeJulia Lieberman in Kinesiology with a minor in Pre-Occupational Therapy. Julia is well on her way to achieving that goal, having finished her freshman year with a 4.0 GPA! Congratulations, Julia! We can’t wait to see you achieve your goal of becoming a Pediatric Occupational Therapist!

Madeline Spigler, daughter of BASF’s Richard Spigler, is thrilled to have been awarded this scMadeline Spiglerholarship. She will begin her second year of studying hospitality management at East Carolina University in Greensboro, NC in August. Madeline has high goals, “With a degree in hospitality management, I will be equipped to turn my passion into a profession that celebrates people, culture, and community.” Congratulations, Madeline! You will be a welcoming face wherever you land!

Each year, MSPCA is equipped to award two $1,000 scholarships.  If you are an MSPCA member, you, your children, employees and their children are eligible to apply for a scholarship by June 15 each year. For more information, visit our website.
